Combining Races

Asked by: Addison B
Hello, I'm new to Regatta Master and I think I'm doing something wrong.
I am trying to combine races, up to 4 at a time. When I select combine I get an error that the race has not been seeded. So I seed the race by selecting lane selection off on the right. Once that's done I try to recombine and I get an error that the lane numbers overlap. Then I have to manually assign lanes to the other races that aren't the first one.

I feel like I'm just using the wrong button or doing an order of operations wrong.

When combining races, the races must have boats in them, and there can be no duplicate lanes. You can combine races into a 'timing race' - an event that has no entries, but is just used to time other races; in that case, the timing race does not need to have boats in it. The races that are combined into it, though, must already be seeded (have boats in them). They are treated logically as one race; therefore the lane/bow numbers overall must be unique within the race. You can add, move, and delete boats in the combined race, but cannot combine first and seed later. Currently the program does not automatically renumber the lanes as races are combined. This is under consideration; however, if using this option you would need to combine the races in the order in which you want the lane/bow numbers assigned. Here is a recent example (an indoor race) where all the masters were combined in one race. In the results they are separate; however, if you click the link icon for event 5, you will see the boats for 6 separate events that were raced together: http://online.regattamaster.com/Pages/QuickView.aspx?regattaID=1201
